Airlines that operate at least one aircraft with the capacity to carry combined passengers, cargo and fuel of 18,000 pounds - the payload factor - must report monthly full-time and part-time employment statistics to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Friday, August 7, 2009 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today posted monthly full-time and part-time employment numbers by airline on its website. The < http://www.bts.gov/airline_employment/src/index.xml> new web page allows the user to search for full-time and part-time employment by carrier for any month beginning with January 1990. Monthly full-time and part-time employment numbers are reported by airlines that operate at least one aircraft with the capacity to carry combined passengers, cargo and fuel of 18,000 pounds ­ the payload factor. These numbers are the basis for the calculations used for the < http://www.bts.gov/press_releases/passenger_airline_employment.html > BTS monthly scheduled passenger airline employment press releases.
