This 3rd Policy Brief - European Social Policy is critically assessing the Commission's 2020 strategy paper. The author addresses the main problematic aspects of the new strategy being the lack of a thorough evaluation of the preceding strategy, the absence of any real consideration of the environmental and economic crisis, the tensions and contradictions between the different aims of the strategy and its problematic provisions in terms of govern! ance. Given the current crisis and the geopolitical, ecological, financial and demographic challenges the author argues that a completely different perspective is required having as point of departure tackling inequalities of all types.
